     17-8-307. Board's power to prevent payment of treasurer's warrants. Whenever the board of examiners has reason to believe that the state treasurer has drawn or is about to draw a warrant without authority of law or for a larger amount than the state actually owes, the board shall notify the treasurer not to pay the warrant drawn or to be drawn. The state treasurer is prohibited from paying the warrant, whether already drawn or not, until otherwise directed by the legislature or the board.
