A Joint Resolution of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the state of Montana congratulating the Loyola Sacred Heart High School speech and debate team for its 14th consecutive state championship.



WHEREAS, extracurricular activities are an integral component of a student's educational experience; and

WHEREAS, speech and debate require a tremendous commitment of time and energy as well as physical and mental effort; and

WHEREAS, since 1983, the Loyola Sacred Heart High School speech and debate team has developed an outstanding winning tradition; and

WHEREAS, in January 1997, the Loyola Sacred Heart High School speech and debate team won its 14th consecutive state championship; and

WHEREAS, this 14th state championship is the most consecutive state championships won by a Montana high school in any extracurricular activity; and

WHEREAS, all Montanans should be proud of the accomplishments of these outstanding young people.



NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

That the congratulations of all Montanans be extended to each member of the Loyola Sacred Heart High School speech and debate team and to the coaches, Matt Stergios and Chuck Hansberry, for their outstanding achievements and their dedication to excellence.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Secretary of State send a copy of this resolution to the Loyola Sacred Heart High School speech and debate team and to the principal of Loyola Sacred Heart High School.
