     72-16-415. Hearing by court. At the time and place of hearing the administration account, the district court shall examine the report of the special appraiser and from the report and other proofs relating to any such estate shall forthwith determine the cash value of such estate and the amount of tax to which the same is liable; or the district court, without appointing such appraiser, may at the time so fixed hear the evidence and determine the cash value of such estate and the amount of tax to which the same is liable.
