     19-2-903. Adjustment of errors in payments. (1) If more or less than the correct amount of contribution required by a retirement system subject to this chapter is or has been paid, proper adjustment must be made in connection with the subsequent payments or the adjustments may be made by direct cash payments between the member, state, or contracting employer in connection with whom the error was made and the board.
     (2) If any fraudulent change or any inadvertent mistake in records results in any member, survivor, or beneficiary receiving more or less than entitled to, then on the discovery of the error, the board shall correct the error and adjust the payments to the member, survivor, or beneficiary in an equitable manner.
