     2-17-502. State information technology advisory council. (1) The department of administration shall create a state information technology advisory council under 2-15-122.
     (2) The members of the advisory council must be selected from a diverse group in order to adequately represent the interests of state agencies, including the university system, and local governments.
     (3) In addition to the advisory functions assigned by the department, the advisory council shall review statewide information and data processing policies, make recommendations regarding the application of new information processing technology in state government, and advise the department on long-term strategic planning for the use of information processing technology in state government.
     (4) The advisory council shall also provide a forum to:
     (a) guide state agencies and local governments in the development and deployment of intergovernmental information resources;
     (b) encourage cooperative efforts among state agencies and local governments in the development of information resources;
     (c) develop and recommend to the department standards and policies for intergovernmental information resources; and
     (d) advise the department in the development of cooperative contracts for the purchase of information resources.
