A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT ALLOCATING A PORTION OF THE INTEREST AND EARNINGS ON THE MONTANA TOBACCO SETTLEMENT TRUST FUND TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES TO BE USED FOR A VOLUNTEER HEALTH CARE CENTER IN HAMILTON; AND PROVIDING A DELAYED EFFECTIVE DATE."



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Funding for volunteer health care center. Beginning July 1, 2002, $50,000 each year from the interest and earnings on the Montana tobacco settlement trust fund, created in Article XII, section 4, of the Montana constitution, is allocated to the department of public health and human services to be used to fund a volunteer health care center in Hamilton. The department may contract with the health care center for the provision of services or may grant the funds to the health care center.



     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 53, chapter 1, part 6, and the provisions of Title 53, chapter 1, part 6, apply to [section 1].



     NEW SECTION.  Section 3.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2002.
