A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO GIVE EQUAL CONSIDERATION TO THE SAFETY AND ACCOMMODATION OF PEDESTRIANS, BICYCLISTS, AND MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATORS WHEN PLANNING FOR CERTAIN STATE-FUNDED HIGHWAY PROJECTS."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Planning to consider pedestrian and bicycle safety. The department shall consider the safety and accommodation of pedestrians and bicyclists to the same degree that it considers the safety and accommodation of motor vehicle operators in any planning process for the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of a highway, other than a federal-aid interstate highway, to which state funds will be applied.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 60, chapter 2, part 2, and the provisions of Title 60, chapter 2, part 2, apply to [section 1].
