A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT APPROPRIATING $120,000 TO THE OFFICE OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION FOR AMERICAN INDIAN STUDIES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Appropriation. There is appropriated $120,000 from the general fund to the office of public instruction for the biennium beginning July 1, 2003, to develop resources for instruction in American Indian studies for Montana public schools.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Notification to tribal governments. The secretary of state shall send a copy of [this act] to each tribal government located on the seven Montana reservations and to the Little Shell band of Chippewa.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 3.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2003.
