HOUSE BILL NO. 592

A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT PROVIDING FOR A VECTOR TRACKING PROGRAM IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Vector tracking program. (1) The department shall establish and administer a vector tracking program to protect the public health and to promote an environment suitable for habitation. The program must address the problems of public health significance in this state that are presented by vectors, including but not limited to rodents, mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, and flies.

     (2) The department is authorized to engage in research, conduct investigations and surveillance, coordinate and collaborate with other state agencies and with local boards of health provided for in Title 50, chapter 2, and provide information to the public, including in an electronic format.

     (3) For the purposes of this section, "vector" means a living transporter and transmitter of a disease-causing agent.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 50, chapter 1, part 2, and the provisions of Title 50, chapter 1, part 2, apply to [section 1].
