     33-2-101. Certificate of authority required. (1) No person shall act as an insurer and no insurer shall transact insurance in this state except as authorized by a subsisting certificate of authority issued to it by the commissioner, except as to such transactions as are expressly otherwise provided for in this code.
     (2) No insurer shall have or maintain in Montana any office, representative, or other facilities for the solicitation or servicing of any kind of insurance in any other state unless it is then authorized to transact the same kind of insurance in this state.
