HOUSE BILL NO. 614

A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT REQUIRING ALL ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION WITHIN THE MONTANA UNIVERSITY SYSTEM TO ACCEPT THE TRANSFER OF COURSE CREDITS FROM EACH OTHER."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Transfer of credits. (1) All course credits at each unit of the Montana university system must be accepted by all other units of the Montana university system. The unit of the Montana university system receiving the transferred credits must accept them as replacement for similar course credits at its own institution and apply them toward the same degree requirement as does the unit transferring the credits.

     (2) Subsection (1) does not apply to remedial courses.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 20, chapter 25, and the provisions of Title 20, chapter 25, apply to [section 1].
