HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2

INTRODUCED BY P. INGRAHAM

A RESOLUTION OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA RECOGNIZING "CELEBRATE MONTANA DAY".

WHEREAS, Montana is a special land blessed by an abundance of natural wonders and diverse wildlife, from the soft hues of prairie sunsets to the glistening white of towering granite peaks, from prehistoric sturgeon to the magnificent grizzly bear; and

WHEREAS, Montana always has and always will be inhabited by special people, beginning with the American Indians who survived and prospered in the harsh terrain and turn of the seasons by cultivating the bounty of the land to care for their peoples; and

WHEREAS, Montana has a unique history, as the first Montanans saw the explorers Lewis and Clark and the trail of homesteaders who heard the great cry to head west; and

WHEREAS, Montana has always been a place of great culture and the home of people, such as Charlie Russell, known the world over; and

WHEREAS, just as in welcoming a new spring day by listening to the rich song of the western meadowlark, all Montanans carry a song in their hearts and look to the future with hope and optimism.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

That the first day of spring in every year, March 21st, be known to one and all as the "celebrate Montana day" as a way to celebrate all that is wonderful about the great State of Montana.
