AN ACT APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR THE OPERATION OF THE LEGISLATURE; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     Section 1.  Appropriation. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund for fiscal years 1999, 2000, and 2001 for the operation of the 56th legislature and costs of preparing for the 57th legislature:

LEGISLATIVE BRANCH (1104)

1. Senate (25) $1,715,020

2. House of Representatives (26) 2,815,977

3. Legislative Services Division Feed Bill (22) 611,604

4. House of Representatives (26) 282,970

     The amount appropriated must be used solely for the purpose of retirement contributions for house members reaching term limits in the year 2000.

5. Senate (25) 124,395

     The amount appropriated must be used solely for the purpose of retirement contributions for senate members reaching term limits in the year 2000.

6. Senate (25) 7,239.50

     The amount appropriated must be used solely for the purpose of paying the judgment for costs and fees in the caucus litigation.

7. House of Representatives (26) 7,239.50

     The amount appropriated must be used solely for the purpose of paying the judgment for costs and fees in the caucus litigation.



     Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.
