AN ACT CLARIFYING THAT IN THE CASE OF A CONSOLIDATED COUNTY OFFICE, A PERSON MAY BE AN ELECTOR OF ANY COUNTY IN WHICH THE DUTIES OF THE OFFICE ARE TO BE PERFORMED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE OFFICE; AND AMENDING SECTION 7-4-2201, MCA.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     Section 1.  Section 7-4-2201, MCA, is amended to read:

     "7-4-2201.  General qualifications for county office. No A person is not eligible to for a county office who at the time of his election is not:

     (1)  of the voting age of voting as required by the Montana constitution;

     (2)  a citizen of the state; and

     (3)  (a) an elector of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised; or for which he is elected

     (b)  in the case of an office consolidated between two or more counties, an elector in one of the counties in which the duties of the office are to be exercised."
