A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT REPEALING THE PROHIBITION ON THE OPEN-PIT MINING FOR
GOLD OR SILVER USING CYANIDE HEAP LEACHING OR VAT LEACHING PROCESSES WITH CYANIDE ORE
PROCESSING REAGENTS; SUBMITTING THE REPEAL TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF MONTANA;
REPEALING SECTION 82-4-390, MCA; AND PROVIDING
A CONTINGENT AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Repealer. Section 82-4-390, MCA, is repealed.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Contingent effective date. [This act] is effective if [LC 1266] is submitted to the
electorate, and if [LC 1266] is submitted to the electorate [this act] is effective on the date of passage of [LC 1266] by the
NEW SECTION. SECTION 2. SUBMISSION TO ELECTORATE. THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THIS ACT WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF MONTANA AT THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN NOVEMBER 2000 BY PRINTING ON THE BALLOT THE FULL TITLE OF THIS ACT AND THE FOLLOWING:
 FOR REPEALING THE PROHIBITION ON OPEN-PIT MINING FOR GOLD OR SILVER USING CYANIDE HEAP LEACHING OR VAT LEACHING PROCESSES WITH CYANIDE ORE PROCESSING REAGENTS.
 AGAINST REPEALING THE PROHIBITION ON OPEN-PIT MINING FOR GOLD OR SILVER USING CYANIDE HEAP LEACHING OR VAT LEACHING PROCESSES WITH CYANIDE ORE PROCESSING REAGENTS.
NEW SECTION. SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. THIS ACT IS EFFECTIVE UPON APPROVAL BY THE ELECTORATE.
