About the Children and Families Interim Committee

The Children and Families Interim Committee is a joint bipartisan committee of the Legislature that meets between legislative sessions to monitor the Department of Public Health and Human Services; conduct interim studies; and generally review issues related to health and human services.

The committee's work plan outlined how it would carry out its agency oversight duties and the studies assigned to it -- the House Joint Resolution 16 study of state institutions providing services to individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse disorders, and the Senate Joint Resolution 20 study of ways to reduce prescription drug abuse.

The committee's final report, "Considering the Health and Well-Being of Montanans," summarizes the information the committee received over the interim and the actions it took related to its studies and other duties.
