Committee Schedules Hearings on Power Council Nominees

The Senate Energy and Telecommunications Committee will hold confirmation hearings next week for two people nominated by the governor to serve on the Northwest Power and Conservation Council.

The hearings will be April 7 at 3 p.m. in Room 317 of the State Capitol in Helena. They are open to the public.

The two nominees are:

  • Rhonda Whiting of Missoula
  • Bruce Measure of Kalispell

Both Measure and Whiting have served on the council since 2005. They have been nominated to serve second 4-year terms.

Measure, an attorney and former legislator, is currently vice chair of the council. Whiting is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes with a background in communications and intergovernmental affairs. For the past several years she has chaired the council's Fish and Wildlife Committee.

The Northwest Power and Conservation Council develops and maintains a regional power plan and a fish and wildlife program to balance the Northwest's environment and energy needs.
