Environmental Quality Council

The Environmental Quality Council (EQC) is a 17-member committee created by the Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA). In general, the EQC reviews and appraises state programs and activities related to the environment to ensure compliance with MEPA (Title 75, chapter 1, parts 1 through 3, MCA).

The Environmental Policy Office provides staff to the EQC and is one of the offices within the Legislative Branch.

 

Between the state's biennial 90-day sessions, the EQC conduct studies assigned by the Legislature or on topics of interest to committee members. More information about the EQC's interim studies is available at the links below.
