The Legislative Audit Committee (LAC) will meet Tuesday, December 12-13, 2017, in room 172 of the State Capitol. LAC will review Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS), The Montana University System including the Commissioner’s Office, Montana State Fund, and the Office of Public Instruction (OPI). The Legislative Audit Committee ensures accountability for the disposition and use of public funds, and the efficient and effective management of state government programs.  The committee meets regularly to review Independent Audit Reports, interact with audited agencies, and advise and consult with the Legislative Auditor and the staff of the Legislative Audit Division.

Financial and Compliance Reports scheduled for review in December include: Montana State Fund, Montana State University, University of Montana, Department of Labor and Industry, Department of Public Health and Human Services, Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education and Office of Public Instruction.

Also scheduled for review is a system development and project management performance review on the Department of Environmental Quality’s (TREADS).  There will also be focus on some special project follow-up audits including: Review of Child Abuse and Neglect Investigations, State Real Property Management, Office of Consumer Protection, Board of Realty Regulation and Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

Senate Members of the LAC are Dee Brown (Secretary), R-Hungry Horse; Terry Gauthier, R-Helena; Bob Keenan R-Bigfork; Margaret MacDonald, D-Billings; Mary McNally (Chair), D-Billings; and Gene Vuckovich, D-Anaconda.  House members are Kim Abbott, D-Helena; Dan Bartel, R-Lewistown; Randy Brodehl, R-Kalispell; Tom Burnett, R-Bozeman; Virgina Court; D-Billings; and Denise Hayman, D-Bozeman. 

The LAC meeting is set to convene at 1:00 p.m. on the 12th, and 8:30 a.m. on the 13th.  An agenda and other committee information are available on the LAC's website.
