A group reviewing transparency in health care pricing will consider the types of information that might be most useful to consumers when it meets in Helena on Feb. 16.

The subcommittee of legislators and interested parties was formed to make recommendations to the Children, Families, Health, and Human Services Interim Committee on a study of price transparency. The study was requested by the Legislature through passage of House Joint Resolution 20 in 2017.

At this month's meeting, a group of speakers will discuss the types of price information that health care consumers want to receive before obtaining medical treatment. The subcommittee also will hear about medical billing practices. And the Montana Hospital Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana will demonstrate online resources that provide price information on health care procedures.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Room 137 of the Capitol in Helena. It will be live streamed at http://leg.mt.gov and will be broadcast on Television Montana (TVMT). Check local channel listings to find TVMT in your area.
