The Local Government Interim Committee will hold its third meeting of the 2017-2018 interim on March 14 and 15 in the Capitol. On March 14, the meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Room 317  in joint session with the Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee to hear and discuss results of a legislative audit of Tax Increment Finance administration. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the committee will move to Room 152 where it will conduct the remainder of its business.

Agenda items include continuation of the committee’s two assigned studies dealing with municipal fire department statutes and emergency medical and volunteer firefighter systems in Montana. Members will turn their attention to possible solutions to problems that municipalities and other local fire and emergency services entities are encountering as they attempt to provide prompt, effective, and high-quality services to Montanans.

In addition to the studies, the committee is scheduled to consider potential changes to statutes that govern local government accounting and reporting.  On March 15, members will continue their discussions with representatives of cities and counties regarding the local government entitlement share funding mechanism, as well as tourism impacts on local governments and urban subdivision review processes.

The meeting will be live streamed at http://leg.mt.gov and will be broadcast on Television Montana (TVMT). Please check your local channel listings to find TVMT in your area.
