     15-1-1007. (Temporary) Homeowner's tax payment -- fraudulent claim -- penalty -- interest. If the claimant does not timely pay the property taxes for the claim period, if a false or fraudulent claim has been paid, or if a tax appeal renders the claimant ineligible the claimant shall return any payment. The amount paid may be recovered as any other debt owed the state. An additional 10% may be added to the amount due as a penalty. The unpaid debt, excluding penalty, bears interest, at the rate of 3/4% a month or fraction of a month, from the date of the original payment of the claim until paid.
