A Bill for an Act entitled: "An Act increasing the number of persons who serve on the Montana mint committee; requiring that one member represent the mint industry research council; and amending section

2-15-3006, MCA."



Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Montana:



Section 1.  Section 2-15-3006, MCA, is amended to read:

"2-15-3006.   Montana mint committee -- composition -- allocation. (1) There is a Montana mint committee composed of five six members. The members include the director of the department of agriculture and four five members appointed by the governor.

(2)  Each of the four five appointed members must be a citizen of Montana who is actively involved in the growing of mint in this state, and one of the appointed members must be a member of or otherwise represent the mint industry research council. The qualifications of members must continue during their terms of office.

(3)  A list of nominees for appointment must be submitted to the governor by Montana associations representing mint growers. Names of nominees must be submitted at least 91 days before the expiration of a committee member's term. The governor shall appoint members from among the persons nominated.

(4)  Appointed members shall serve staggered terms of 3 years. Initial appointment must be as follows:

(a)  one member for a 1-year term;

(b)  two members for 2-year terms; and

(c)  one member two members for a 3-year term.

(5)  The committee is allocated to the department of agriculture for administrative purposes only as prescribed in 2-15-121."
