     10-2-502. County of residence to pay expense. The expenses of such burial shall be paid by the county in which the veteran dies or, if death occurs while in service, the county of his last residency. But if the veteran has a residence in another county in this state than the one paying the expenses, the county of his residence shall refund the money advanced by the county where he died. The claimant shall be a relative or guardian unless otherwise directed. Expenses of such funeral shall be audited and paid as other expenses are audited and paid by the county.
