     7-34-2118. Term of office. (1) The trustees elected for the first board shall serve for terms:
     (a) commencing upon their being elected and qualified; and
     (b) terminating 1, 2, and 3 years, respectively, from the first district meeting following their election and until their respective successors shall be elected and qualified.
     (2) Annually thereafter there may be elected a trustee to serve for a term of 3 years and until his successor shall be qualified. Such term of 3 years shall commence at the first district meeting following the said trustee's election.
