     19-5-801. Payments upon employment-related death. If the board finds that a member died as a direct and proximate result of injury received in the course of the member's service or duty, a survivorship benefit must be paid to the member's designated beneficiary. The survivorship benefit is the greater of the actuarial equivalent of a member's service retirement benefit standing to the member's credit on the date of death or of the contingent annuitant's benefit, if applicable.
