AN ACT APPROPRIATING $50,000 FROM THE GENERAL LICENSE FUND OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FISH, WILDLIFE, AND PARKS FOR THE USDA-APHIS WILDLIFE SERVICES PROGRAM TO ASSIST WITH PREDATOR CONTROL IN MONTANA; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.



     WHEREAS, there is an ongoing and increasing need in Montana to control predators that prey on Montana wildlife and livestock; and

     WHEREAS, additional funding will enhance the efforts of the USDA-APHIS wildlife services program to control predators and benefit the state's wildlife and livestock industry.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     Section 1.  Appropriation. There is appropriated $50,000 from the general license fund of the department of fish, wildlife, and parks for the department of fish, wildlife, and parks to conduct enhanced predator control in Montana for wildlife management purposes in cooperation with the department of livestock and the USDA-APHIS wildlife services program. This appropriation is to be biennial, restricted, and one time only and is supplemental to any other appropriation that the program might receive from other state sources.



     Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2001.
