A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT APPROPRIATING MONEY TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGILE VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE TECHNOLOGY AT MONTANA TECH OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Rocky Mountain agile virtual enterprise -- appropriation. (1) There is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents $400,000 for the biennium ending June 30, 2003, to be used for the development of agile virtual enterprise technology at Montana tech of the university of Montana.

     (2) Agile virtual enterprise is a business-to-business e-commerce management system that reinvents the traditional way business is conducted. It brings together vastly different companies to achieve and sustain competitive advantage while enabling them to act as a highly integrated and collaborative organization. The Rocky Mountain agile virtual enterprise project will create an electronic network linking communications between the high-tech manufacturing sector and the Montana university system. The network will facilitate development of a system for resource sharing among the participating companies and provide essential training to enable these companies to form agile enterprises that can compete effectively in national and international markets.



     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2001.
