A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT PROHIBITING THE PAYMENT OF THE EXPENSES OF THE HIGHWAY PATROL FROM THE RESTRICTED HIGHWAY STATE SPECIAL REVENUE ACCOUNT; AMENDING SECTION 44-1-501, MCA; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     Section 1.  Section 44-1-501, MCA, is amended to read:

     "44-1-501.  Payment of expenses -- restriction. All The expenses of the highway patrol shall may not be paid out of the transportation department's department of transportation's account in the state special revenue fund into which fuel taxes and gross vehicle weight fees are deposited."



     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2001.
