SENATE BILL NO. 333

AN ACT REMOVING THE TERMINATION DATE FROM THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE STATE PRISON RANCH MAKE AN ANNUAL PAYMENT TO POWELL COUNTY COMPARABLE TO A PAYMENT IN LIEU OF TAX; AMENDING SECTION 53-1-208, MCA; REPEALING SECTION 6, CHAPTER 550, LAWS OF 1999; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
Section 1. Section 53-1-208, MCA, is amended to read:
"53-1-208. (Temporary) Payment to Powell County. (1) The department of corrections shall allocate $46,000 each
fiscal year from the proprietary enterprise fund established for the operation of the state prison ranch to the Powell County
treasurer.
(2) The Powell County treasurer shall distribute the payment in the relative proportions required by the levies for state,
county, school district, and municipal purposes in the same manner as property taxes are distributed. (Terminates June 30,
2001--sec. 6, Ch. 550, L. 1999.)"
Section 2. Repealer. Section 6, Chapter 550, Laws of 1999, is repealed.
Section 3. Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.
