A RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA URGING THE SENATE IN THE 58TH LEGISLATURE TO ABOLISH THE SENATE BILLS AND JOURNAL COMMITTEE.

WHEREAS, the Senate of the 57th Legislature desires to ensure that the Senate operates in an efficient and effective manner in the future; and

WHEREAS, technology has reduced the need for a committee to oversee the processing and filing of bills and Senate journals; and

WHEREAS, the Senate consistently hires the most qualified, efficient, and friendly staff for the processing and filing of bills and the Senate journal; and

WHEREAS, the powerful and prestigious Senate Bills and Journal Committee rarely meets and for several sessions has been unable to find sufficient time or support for an awards banquet at the conclusion of the legislative session.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

That the Senate in the 58th Legislature be urged to abolish the Senate Bills and Journal Committee and to assign the oversight of the processing and filing of bills and the Senate journal to the President of the Senate.
