     61-1-601. (Effective January 1, 2004) Manufacturer's certificate of origin. "Manufacturer's certificate of origin" means the original paper record produced and issued by or, if in a medium authorized by the department, an electronic record created and transmitted by the manufacturer of a vehicle to the manufacturer's agent or a licensed dealer. The record must establish the origin of the vehicle specifically described in the record and, upon assignment, transfers of ownership of the vehicle to the person or persons named in the certificate.
