A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING MONEY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NATIONAL MUSEUM OF FOREST SERVICE HISTORY AND EDUCATION CENTER NEAR MISSOULA; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Transfer of funds -- appropriation. There is transferred $750,000 from the general fund to the cultural and aesthetic projects account for a grant to develop and construct a national museum of forest service history and education center west of Missoula. The money is appropriated to the Montana arts council, which shall accept grant proposals for the museum and education center project pursuant to Title 22, chapter 2, part 3, and shall grant the money to an organization that has secured appropriate property for the museum. The money may be used only to develop the property, to construct an adequate building to house a museum and education center, and to construct displays and exhibits that demonstrate national forest service history for the education of Montanans and other members of the public. If the grant is made to a nonprofit organization, the requirement for matching funds in 22-3-309 does not apply.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2007.
