A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO BE USED FOR PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS TO COMBAT THE USE OF METHAMPHETAMINE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Appropriation -- grants -- administration. There is appropriated from the state general fund $2 million in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2007, and $2 million in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008, to the department of justice methamphetamine watch program provided for in Title 44, chapter 4, part 10. The appropriation must be used for the purpose of making grants for community awareness, as provided in 44-1-1002(3), to private nonprofit programs engaged in public awareness media campaigns to combat the use of methamphetamine, especially among the young. The media campaigns may include references to nondenominational religious and moral values. The department may adopt procedures for soliciting applications for the grants and for disbursing grant funds.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2007.
