A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION TO PAY FOR CONDUCTING A COST ALLOCATION STUDY FOR ADDITIONAL WATER USES IN THE CLARK FORK RIVER BASIN; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Appropriation. There is appropriated $260,000 from the general fund to the department of natural resources and conservation for the biennium beginning July 1, 2007, for the purpose of paying for a study to determine a revised cost allocation of the cost of Hungry Horse dam and associated expenses to include flood control, hydropower generation, irrigation, and municipal and industrial water users in the Clark Fork River basin in Montana. This cost allocation is a necessary step in the process by which the state of Montana may contract for water in Hungry Horse reservoir to provide for additional water development and protection of existing basin water rights.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2007.
