     7-21-3211. Employment of stock inspector. (1) Whenever the board of county commissioners is satisfied, from its own knowledge or from facts and circumstances submitted to it by the county attorney or sheriff, that livestock is being stolen, slaughtered, or otherwise disposed of contrary to law in the county and in a manner that the public officers of the county are not in a position to apprehend the criminals or obtain the necessary evidence upon which to base a prosecution, the board of each county, except in counties of the first class, has the power to employ a stock inspector.
     (2) Whenever a stock inspector is employed, the employment is only for the case or cases then under investigation. During the existence of the appointment, the inspector is vested with the same police power and authority as the sheriff, within the limitation of the purposes for which the inspector is appointed.
