A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT ENCOURAGING SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO DEVELOP LASTING COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS TO ENRICH ELEMENTARY ARTS AND MUSIC EDUCATION THROUGH THE MONTANA ARTISTS IN SCHOOLS PROGRAM; PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Appropriation. (1) There is appropriated $100,000 from the state general fund to the Montana arts council for the biennium beginning July 1, 2017.
(2) The money must be used for grants through the artists in schools program that encourage school districts to develop community-school partnerships that enrich arts and music education programs in elementary schools that can be sustained without additional grant funding through the artists in schools program.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2017.
