A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE PATRICK KRAMER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY IN GALLATIN COUNTY; DIRECTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO INSTALL SIGNS AT THE LOCATION AND TO INCLUDE THE MEMORIAL HIGHWAY ON THE NEXT PUBLICATION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY MAP; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE."
WHEREAS, Patrick Kramer grew up in Billings, Montana, and enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from high school; and
WHEREAS, after his honorable discharge in 2004, Patrick Kramer graduated from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy; and
WHEREAS, Patrick Kramer served as an officer of the West Yellowstone Police Department, bearing Badge Number 682; and
WHEREAS, Patrick Kramer had a love for the military and law enforcement, with a desire to serve and help others; and
WHEREAS, Patrick Kramer was a proud father and a vibrant member of his community; and
WHEREAS, Patrick Kramer died in the line of duty in 2006, responding to an accident at the Targhee Pass; and
WHEREAS, Patrick Kramer's daughter, parents, sisters, and brother-in-law survive him; and
WHEREAS, the 66th Legislature of the State of Montana honors Patrick Kramer for his service.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Patrick Kramer memorial highway. (1) There is established the Patrick Kramer memorial highway on the existing U.S. Highway 20 between mile 4 and mile 6.
(2) The department shall design and install appropriate signs marking the location of the Patrick Kramer memorial highway, stating his rank, department, and badge number.
(3) Maps that identify roadways in Montana must be updated to include the location of the Patrick Kramer memorial highway when the department updates and publishes the state maps.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 60, chapter 1, part 2, and the provisions of Title 60, chapter 1, part 2, apply to [section 1].
NEW SECTION. Section 3. Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.
