A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT REQUIRING THAT A NEW TAX OR FEE OR A TAX OR FEE INCREASE MAY NOT BE ENACTED UNLESS APPROVED BY A SUPERMAJORITY OF EACH HOUSE OF THE LEGISLATURE; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Supermajority of legislature required to pass tax or fee. The legislature may not enact a new tax or fee or a tax or fee increase unless authorized by two-thirds of the members of each house of the legislature.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 5, chapter 4, part 1, and the provisions of Title 5, chapter 4, part 1, apply to [section 1].
NEW SECTION. Section 3. Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.
