SENATE BILL NO. 287

A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT CREATING THE CLASS B-14 NONRESIDENT WILDERNESS ONLY BIG GAME COMBINATION LICENSE; ALLOCATING REVENUE; EXTENDING RULEMAKING AUTHORITY; AND PROVIDING A DELAYED EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 1.  Class B-14--nonresident wilderness only big game combination license. (1) A person who is not a resident, as defined in 87-2-102, but who is 12 years of age or older or who will turn 12 years old before or during the season for which the license is issued may, upon payment of the fee of $825 and subject to limitations prescribed by law and department regulation, apply to the fish, wildlife, and parks office, Helena, Montana, to purchase a Class B-14 nonresident wilderness only big game combination license that entitles a holder who is 12 years of age or older to all the privileges of Class B, Class B-1, and Class B-7 licenses and an elk tag. This license includes the nonresident conservation license as prescribed in 87-2-202.

     (2) Not more than 1,500 Class B-14 licenses may be sold in any 1 license year.

     (3) A Class B-14 license entitles the holder to hunt only in the following wilderness areas:

     (a) Absaroka-Beartooth wilderness;

     (b) Anaconda Pintler wilderness;

     (c) Bob Marshall wilderness;

     (d) Cabinet Mountains wilderness;

     (e) Gates of the Mountains wilderness;

     (f) Great Bear wilderness;

     (g) Lee Metcalf wilderness;

     (h) Medicine Lake wilderness;

     (i) Mission Mountains wilderness;

     (j) Rattlesnake wilderness;

     (k) Red Rock Lakes wilderness;

     (l) Scapegoat wilderness;

     (m) Selway-Bitterroot wilderness;

     (n) UL Bend wilderness;

     (o) Welcome Creek wilderness.

     (4) Revenue collected pursuant to this section must be deposited in the account provided for in 87-2-526(5).

     (5) Licenses sold pursuant to this section do not affect the quota established in 87-2-505 for the sale of Class B-10 nonresident big game combination licenses.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 2.  Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 87, chapter 2, part 5, and the provisions of Title 87, chapter 2, part 5, apply to [section 1].

 

     NEW SECTION.  Section 3.  Effective date. [This act] is effective March 1, 2020.
