A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT revising bicycle laws; and allowing a bicyclist to treat a stop sign like a yield sign."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

NEW SECTION. Section 1.Stop signs. A bicyclist may treat a stop sign as a yield sign by slowing to a reasonable speed, yielding the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching the intersection, and then cautiously making a turn or proceeding through the intersection.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 2.Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 61, chapter 8, part 6, and the provisions of Title 61, chapter 8, part 6, apply to [section 1].
