A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT CREATING MONTANA STANDARD TIME; PROVIDING AN EXEMPTION FROM DAYLIGHT saving TIME; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

NEW SECTION. Section 1.Montana standard time. (1) The standard time in the state is the mountain standard time zone as defined in 15 U.S.C. 261.

(2) The state is exempt from daylight saving time, as allowed by federal law.

(3) This section may not affect federal laws governing:

(a) the movements of common carriers engaged in interstate commerce or foreign commerce; or

(b) the timing of an act by an officer or department of the United States, as established by statute, order, rule, or regulation.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 2.Notification to tribal governments. The secretary of state shall send a copy of [this act] to each federally recognized tribal government in Montana.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 3.Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 30, and the provisions of Title 30 apply to [section 1].

 

NEW SECTION. Section 4.Effective date. [This act] is effective at 2 a.m. on November 7, 2021.
