A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT PROHIBITING THE USE OF STATE FUNDS OR OTHER ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT nonprofit or for-profit RADIO stations; prohibiting licensing agreements; and PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

NEW SECTION. Section 1.Prohibition on funding radio stations. State funds may not be appropriated to support a public or private radio station directly or indirectly, except for public service announcements.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 2.Prohibition on support to radio stations. (1) In order to implement the provisions of [section 1], no unit of the system may provide financial or in-kind support to a nonprofit or for-profit radio station.

(2) No unit of the system may enter into any licensing agreements with a nonprofit or for-profit radio station.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 3.Codification instruction. (1) [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 17, chapter 8, part 1, and the provisions of Title 17, chapter 8, part 1, apply to [section 1].

(2) [Section 2] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 20, chapter 25, part 3, and the provisions of Title 20, chapter 25, part 3, apply to [section 2].

 

NEW SECTION. Section 4.Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.
