A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT allowing requiring the department of environmental quality to reimburse owners of community and public water systems disinfected with ultraviolet light to be exempt from for certified system operator requirements costs under certain circumstances; and providing an immediate effective date and a termination date."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

NEW SECTION. Section 1.Ultraviolet light treatment of community and public water supply systems -- reimbursement for expenses. A If a community water system, as defined in 75-6-102(4), or a public water supply system, as defined in 75-6-102(15), that has between 15 and 50 service connections, was installed on or before July 1, 2025, and the water is disinfected with only the use of ultraviolet light, the department shall annually reimburse the system owner for certified operator sampling expenses is not required to have a certified system operator if disinfection of the water is accomplished with the use of ultraviolet light.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 2.Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 75, chapter 6, part 1, and the provisions of Title 75, chapter 6, part 1, apply to [section 1].

 

NEW SECTION. Section 3.Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 4.Termination. [This act] terminates December 31, 2025.
