A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT Generally revising tow truck laws; and requiring a private person requesting a tow to demonstrate ownership or agency relationship with the owner of the vehicle."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

NEW SECTION. Section 1.Proof of ownership. A person other than a law enforcement officer or a person working for a local government who requests the services of a commercial tow truck operator shall demonstrate orally or in writing to the commercial tow truck operator that the person owns the vehicle to be towed or is acting on behalf of the person who owns the vehicle to be towed.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 2.Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 61, chapter 8, part 9, and the provisions of Title 61, chapter 8, part 9, apply to [section 1].
