A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT REVISING LAWS RELATED TO HEALTH EDUCATION; REQUIRING SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO INCLUDE MATERIALS on EARLY FETAL DEVELOPMENT; and PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

 

NEW SECTION. Section 1.Requirements for high school instruction related to human reproduction. When providing instruction on human reproduction to high school students to meet health content standards adopted by the board of public education, a school district shall include the following:

(1)        a high-definition ultrasound video, at least 3 minutes in duration, showing the development of the brain, heart, sex organs, and other vital organs in early fetal development; and

(2)        a high-quality, computer-generated rendering or animation showing the process of fertilization and every stage of human development inside the uterus, noting significant markers in cell growth and organ development for every week of pregnancy until birth.

 

NEW SECTION. Section 2.Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 20, chapter 7, part 1, and the provisions of Title 20, chapter 7, part 1, apply to [section 1].

 

NEW SECTION. Section 3.Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2023.
