A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT making THE ROUND DANCE THE OFFICIAL STATE DANCE OF MONTANA; PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION; and PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. State dance. The round dance, a Native American friendship and social dance, is the official dance of Montana.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Appropriation. There is appropriated $1,000 from the general fund to the department of commerce for the biennium beginning July 1, 2023, to acquire photographs of round dance performances from Montana's tribal groups and to incorporate the photos into a round dance informational section in the Indian country tourism guide published by the department.
NEW SECTION. Section 3. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 1, chapter 1, part 5, and the provisions of Title 1, chapter 1, part 5, apply to [section 1].
NEW SECTION. Section 4. Effective date. [This act] is effective July 1, 2023.
