A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT REQUIRING LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL OF COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS BETWEEN THE STATE AND AN INDIAN TRIBE REGARDING MOTOR FUEL TAXES; and PROVIDING THAT A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT MAY NOT TAKE EFFECT UNTIL APPROVED BY THE LEGISLATURE."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Approval by legislature. A cooperative agreement entered into between the department and an Indian tribe pursuant to 15-70-450 must be submitted to the legislature for approval. The negotiated agreement may not take effect until it has been approved by the legislature.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Notification to tribal governments. The secretary of state shall send a copy of [this act] to each federally recognized tribal government in Montana.
NEW SECTION. Section 3. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 15, chapter 70, part 4, and the provisions of Title 15, chapter 70, part 4, apply to [section 1].
