A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA AUTHORIZING THE PERMANENT PLACEMENT OF CERTAIN MEMORIALS IN THE CAPITOL.



     WHEREAS, section 2-17-804(1)(b), MCA, requires the Capitol Complex Advisory Council to advise the Legislature on the placement of busts, statues, memorials, monuments, or art displays of a permanent nature within public areas of the Capitol Complex, including the executive residence and the original Governor's mansion; and

     WHEREAS, the Capitol Complex Advisory Council recommends the permanent placement of a memorial to distinguished members of the House of Representatives and recognition displays to recognize major donors to the Capitol restoration project.



NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:

     (1)  That a House of Representatives memorial be permanently placed in the Capitol to be inscribed with the names of Representatives whose careers were marked by distinguished service to the people of Montana, that names to be inscribed be designated by the House of Representatives on referral from the House Legislative Administration Committee, and that the Capitol Complex Advisory Council consult with the House Legislative Administration Committee on the design and placement of the memorial.

     (2)  That donors to the Capitol restoration project be recognized in a permanent manner for their contributions to the project, that the form of recognition be developed as a priority item in the revision of the Capitol area master plan under section 2-17-805, MCA, and that the design and location of recommended recognition displays be reviewed and approved by the Capitol Complex Advisory Council.
