AN ACT EXTENDING FOR 4 YEARS THE TERMINATION DATE ON THE REQUIREMENT THAT AT LEAST 50 PERCENT OF FISHING LICENSE FEES RESERVED FOR FISHING ACCESS SITES BE ALLOCATED FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF FISHING ACCESS SITES AND STREAM, RIVER, AND LAKE FRONTAGES AND BE PRIORITIZED AND EXPENDED FOR WEED CONTROL, STREAMBANK RESTORATION, AND GENERAL OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE; REQUIRING A REPORT ON PROGRAM SUCCESS TO THE 58TH LEGISLATURE; AMENDING SECTIONS 2 AND 4, CHAPTER 428, LAWS OF 1995; AND PROVIDING AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE.



BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:



     Section 1.  Section 4, Chapter 428, Laws of 1995, is amended to read:

     "Section 4. Termination. [This act] terminates July 1, 1999 2003."



     Section 2.  Section 2, Chapter 428, Laws of 1995, is amended to read:

     "Section 2.  Report to legislature. Because [section 1] terminates July 1, 1999 2003, the department of fish, wildlife, and parks shall report to the 56th 58th legislature by December 1, 1998 2002, regarding the success of the operation and maintenance program required by [section 1] and on the status of weed management and streambank restoration at fishing access sites and frontages."



     Section 3.  Effective date. [This act] is effective on passage and approval.
